Photography has always been a passion for me.
In my early teens my dad got his first Canon SLR with a 50mm and a 80-200 zoom. I used that camera as much as I was able, and simply fell in love with capturing and creating images. This progressed into HS when I started taking freelance images for the yearbook. I learned how to roll and process film, and started making black and white prints in the darkroom. It was awesome!
College allowed me the opportunity to learn and work under a professional, John Borge, in the college’s photo lab. With equipment upgrades, better darkroom techniques, studio lighting, and an introduction to medium format cameras, I was in heaven.
To supplement my personal creativity, I started doing some freelance work and weddings in the mid-90’s but things really didn’t kick off professionally for me until I moved to Japan in 1996.
